In 2022 the Frankfurt project developer Lang & Cie. finished a new building in Frankfurt-Niederrad. Modern office space is built on 10 floors on a gross floor area of around 56,000 square meters. The architecture was created by holger meyer architektur. The tenant of the new office property is Deka Bank Frankfurt.
Large glass facades on the end sides of the office property allow wide views outside of the building and back into it. The office blocks hang like monitors above a two-storey basement that connects the office blocks. Construction began in November 2019.
DekaBank’s move to the new location is expected to reduce CO2 emissions from building operations by up to 70 percent compared with the old locations in the Trianon and the Prisma. The roof area of around 3,900 square meters will be greened and also equipped with a photovoltaic system. All rainwater will be temporarily stored in roof superstructures and made available for vegetation on the roof. As a result of these measures, the new building will achieve Gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) upon completion.
Originally, the DekaBank had considered the construction of a high-rise building at this location, but then dropped this idea again.
Planning and Construction
Status January 2022: Since the turn of the year, the first DekaBank employees have moved to the new site. Once the move is completed in summer 2022, up to 3,500 employees are expected to work there. Having already given up its location in the Prisma office building, DekaBank is also planning to leave the Trianon high-rise in downtown Frankfurt in 2024. The new location in Niederrad is to be geared toward mobile working, as DekaBank will grant its employees a 40 percent home office in the future.
