SkyRun MesseTurm Frankfurt
SkyRun MesseTurm Frankfurt is a tower running event up to the top of MesseTurm. A tower run is a competition in which the athletes climb a skyscraper, a tower or a staircase in the open air. At SkyRun Frankfurt, individual runners and teams can compete in reaching Frankfurt’s 61-storey landmark. The challenge is to conquer the 1,202 steps and 222 meters (728 feet) of altitude difference.
As a rule, SkyRun Frankfurt takes place as a running event once a year. The last staircase race took place in 2018 because the MesseTurm was not be available for the race from 2019 due to construction work. The next SkyRun Frankfurt is expected to take place in MesseTurm during 2020.
Since 2007, all proceeds from SkyRun have been donated to ARQUE for the benefit of paraplegic children. The Working Group for Paraplegics with Spina Bifida/Rhein-Main-Nahe e.V., ARQUE for short, represents the interests of people with congenital paraplegia (Spina Bifida) and disorders of the cerebrospinal fluid circulation (Hydrocephalus). Status February 2021: The Race Director of SkyRun MesseTurm Frankfurt, Michael Lederer, and MesseTurm Frankfurt are jointly aiming for the 13th edition of the SkyRun MesseTurm Frankfurt for the year 2022. As a result of the ongoing corona pandemic situation and the ongoing construction work, those involved decided in favor of this solution. At peak times, more than 1,200 runners turned clockwise and vertically sprinted up 61 floors of the landmark with its unmistakable pyramid over a total of 1,202 steps – in this respect a clever alternative also in the interests of tower runners: stay healthy and continue to train your vertical fitness so that you can then get into Beat your personal best in 2022!
