After the groundbreaking ceremony in February 2022, the foundation stone for the Sparda-Bank Tower was also laid on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. Among others, Mike Josef (SPD), Head of the Department for Planning, Housing and Sports, Markus Müller, Chairman of the Board of Sparda-Bank Hessen eG and Olaf Kühl from Messe Frankfurt GmbH were present. By 2025, the new office and hotel high-rise with 37 floors and a height of 124 meters is to be built at the intersection of Europa-Allee / Emser Brücke. The building will be directly connected to the trade fair grounds as the South Entrance.

Sparda-Bank Hessen will move in with its bank headquarters. There will be approximately 13,400 square meters of office space on 14 floors. In addition, the ATLANTIC Hotel Group will offer four-star superior service on a total of 21 floors, including a sky bar.

Construction is progressing according to plan, a fact highlighted by Messe managing director Uwe Behm at the groundbreaking ceremony. He said it was “gratifying and not a matter of course in times of disrupted supply chains in the construction industry.” He also made clear how important the new Messeplatz entrance is in terms of accessibility for guests and customers, because “with the construction of the new subway line in the Europaviertel, we will in future have public connections via two subway lines, four S-Bahn lines, streetcars and buses.”

The Sparda-Bank Tower is a project development of the Gustav Zech Foundation and will be built according to the further developed plans of the competition design by cyrus I moser I architekten (cma). The high-rise building and the base frame the new trade fair square being created on the site, which will serve as an entrance for the various uses and form an urban opening in Europa-Allee. For trade fair guests, the lower part of the building will house a spacious reception hall with access control systems, event and conference rooms as well as a catering facility open to the public on an area of almost 5,000 square meters.
