Just over three quarters of a year after planning permission was granted, the topping-out ceremony for the Timber Pioneer, developed by UBM Development and Paulus Immobilien, was held on October 26, 2022. The Timber Pioneer is Frankfurt’s first office building in timber hybrid construction and is being built in Frankfurt’s Europaviertel in the immediate vicinity of the F.A.Z. Tower, also developed by UBM and Paulus. The 8-story Timber Pioneer offers 14,100 square meters of office space and around 1,500 square meters of retail space on the first floor. The innovative building not only sets standards in terms of its sustainable and efficient construction but also offers its users a high degree of flexibility with options ranging from individual offices to open-space concepts.

Mike Josef, City Councilor, Department of Planning, Housing and Sports Frankfurt a. M., says on the occasion of the topping-out ceremony: “Today’s topping-out ceremony can rightly be seen as a building block in developing our city into a sustainable metropolis. For Frankfurt as a city with a dynamic construction industry, this plays a very important role. My thanks go to the project partners UBM and Paulus, the architects from Eike Becker Architekten and, last but not least, to all the craftsmen and construction workers involved in the construction. I wish everyone involved a continued trouble-free and accident-free construction process!”

Intensive greening of the inner courtyard and roof terrace is planned for the Timber Pioneer, which is expected to have a positive effect on the microclimate. An improved indoor climate is also expected in the interior spaces due to the regulating effect of wood as a material. Due to the consistently modularized construction method of the Timber Pioneer, construction work is progressing at a fast pace, with completion planned as early as mid-2023.
