A joint venture between OFB Projektentwicklung and Art-Invest Real Estate has won a renowned office tenant for the Eschborn Gate project development at Frankfurter Strasse 2-8 in Eschborn. Samsung Electronics Holding will move to more than 17,500 square meters of rental space in the middle of 2024 – spread over a high-rise with 16 floors and an adjoining six-story building.
Eschborn Gate is being built on a plot of around 30,800 square meters at the entrance to the Eschborn South Industrial Area. The building application is currently being drawn up for the first phase of the project. The start of construction is planned for the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022. A total of over 50,000 square meters of flexible, high-quality office space is planned. A large square and greenery ensure a pleasant atmosphere in the open air. With usage units from 400 square meters, the ensemble offers office solutions for tenants with large and small space requirements. The aim is to achieve LEED platinum certification for the new Samsung headquarters.
Samsung Electronics Holding has 800 employees and is currently based in Schwalbach (which is nearby). The company is the German headquarters of the global technology group Samsung Electronics, headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. After completion of the Eschborn Gate, Samsung Electronics Holding and its entire workforce will move into the new office space.
“We are very pleased that our new company headquarters in Eschborn is now becoming a reality,” says Man-Young Kim, President of Samsung Electronics GmbH. “Samsung stands for making innovations accessible to people that improve their lives and their everyday lives. This principle is particularly important to us, especially for our employees. We are therefore looking forward to moving into a new building in mid-2024 that not only offers us many options for implementing contemporary office concepts, but also meets the latest ecological standards. ”
Klaus Kirchberger, CEO of OFB, proudly declares: “With Samsung Electronics, we are gaining a world-famous technology company as a long-term tenant. The letting is a great success and underlines the attractiveness of the Eschborn Gate as a top office location at the entrance of Frankfurt. ”
Stephen von der Brüggen, Managing Director at Art-Invest Real Estate, adds: “We are very pleased that we are allowed to develop your new German headquarters together with Samsung Electronics, which is not only architecturally, but also technologically Samsung.”
Eschborn Mayor Adnan Shaikh is pleased: “With Eschborn Gate, our southern entrance to Eschborn is getting a new, ultra-modern face. We are extremely pleased that the global Samsung Corporation has committed itself to the FrankfurtRheinMain and Eschborn metropolitan region as one of the leading high-tech locations. The fact that Samsung is now returning to Eschborn almost 50 years after it was founded is a nice link in history. OFB and Art-Invest Real Estate are two extraordinarily efficient project developers for one of the most important development projects in the entire region. We are very happy about this decision and will do our best to bring this project to a successful conclusion. ”
District Administrator Michael Cyriax welcomes the fact that Samsung remains connected to the Main-Taunus Area and the region: “We are grateful for decades of partnership, look forward to the continuation and wish all the best for the construction and the move in.”
Eschborn Gate benefits from its connection to the freeway 5, freeway 66 and freeway 648, the Frankfurt Freeway Junction and local public transport. The location is also on the planned West Regional Tangent – a new light rail line through the metropolis of Frankfurt and its surrounding communities.
Cushman & Wakefield, GSK STOCKMANN and Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP Frankfurt advised the parties.
