From 2021, a new hotel high-rise with an integrated conference center will be constructed in the Gateway Gardens development area named Steigenberger Congress Hotel Frankfurt Airport. The hotel complex is approximately 70 meters (230 feet) high and has a gross floor area of around 34,000 square meters (366,000 square feet). Steigenberger Hotel is to house 527 rooms and suites in two connected wing towers.
The congress and conference center included in the complex covers 5,500 square meters (59,200 square feet). The column-free, divisible congress hall has 2,300 square meters (24,750 square feet) of usable space for around 3,000 people and features a clear ceiling height of 6.5 meters (70 feet). The large lobby on the ground floor also offers optimal spatial conditions for events. On the 19th floor of the north tower, the spa and wellness area offers an unobstructed view of the city forest and the Frankfurt skyline, as well as the publicly accessible skybar in the south tower, which offers a view of the apron at Frankfurt Airport.
The skyscraper is being built on site 3 in the immediate vicinity of the Gateway Gardens S-Bahn station (an underground lightrail station). The architecture for the tower comes from the Dusseldorf-based architecture firm HPP Architekten and is developed by Groß & Partner. Although the project developer describes the design of the Steigenberger Hotel boldly as a “spectacular hotel”, the original concept for this high-rise building is already around 10 years old.
The groundbreaking is expected to take place in 2021, and the opening of the Steigenberger Hotel in Gateway Gardens is planned for 2024.
