With ROCKYWOOD, the project developer Primus Developements is developing a micro quarter on the harbor promenade in Offenbach am Main, in the center of which a playground, an elevated public square, is being created. The design is by Eike Becker Architekten. There are two buildings involved: The first is called Rocky and is designed as a detached solitaire on the harbor promenade, with the column-free loft offices providing an unobstructed view of the Main River and the Frankfurt skyline. Wood is the name of the second building and is a wooden modular structure on a solid base.
The Quarter is scheduled for completion by 2023 and will then have around 11,000 square meters of gross floor space. The Playground, with numerous seating options, functions as a meeting space between the buildings and the neighborhood and city. It will also be equipped with sports equipment. A restaurant as well as a café are also planned. In addition, Boxclub Nordend Offenbach e.V., a nationally recognized integration project, will occupy rooms on the first floor.
The offices of the Wood will be made entirely of wood, which brings various advantages such as the binding of CO² from the atmosphere or a natural way of regulating the indoor climate. In addition to the offices made of wood, four arcades will link them and provide new connections on the four floors. A total of 2600 cubic meters will be used and reforested until the completion of the micro quarter.
