The English Theatre Frankfurt - Gallileo - Gallusanlage

The English Theatre Frankfurt

The English Theater Frankfurt is a purely English-language theater in Frankfurt. The theater was founded in 1979 and is the largest English-speaking theater in mainland Europe. The venue is the Gallileo tower in the Bahnhofsviertel district, on the corner of Gallusanlage and Kaiserstrasse.

The English Theater Frankfurt performs various genres ranging from comedies and parodies to thrillers, dramas, tragedies, and musicals. The selection of plays includes classics as well as new and modern plays. The English Theater produces at least five of its own shows per season, including a musical. A drama production runs daily (except Mondays) for around 6 to 8 weeks, whereas a musical usually runs for 12 weeks.

The English Theater does not have a permanent ensemble. The actors are recruited for each production. All actors are native speakers, and the majority come from England (e.g. London’s famous West End theater district) and the United States (e.g. New York’s Broadway).

During the ongoing musical productions, the performers give cabarets in James the Bar on some Fridays. They then sing a medley of well-known musical hits and pop songs.

Note: During the current coronavirus pandemic, the English Theater will remain open with a reduced number of seats. Support the theater with a visit!
