Die Pyramide in Frankfurt

The pyramid is the former headquarters of Deutsche Bahn AG located in Frankfurt’s European District. The building complex was built between 1991 and 1993 according to plans by Stephan Böhm for Deutsche Bahn, the national railway operator of Germany. The company left the office building in spring 2021 after moving to the nearby DB Tower and DB Brick complex. The former head office of Deutsche Bahn AG is classified as a cultural monument for historical, artistic and urban planning reasons according to the Hessian Monument Protection Act.

The approximately 65-meter-high (213 feet) office complex consists of a 17-storey core in the middle and five-storey building wings grouped around it. On a floor area of 21,037 square meters (226,440 square feet), the building offers 45,608 square meters (490,920 square feet) of rental space. The property has a distinctive exposed concrete structure, flexible room configurations and impressive visual axes.

After the Deutsche Bundesbahn first moved into the building on October 25, 1993, it served as the corporate headquarters of Deutsche Bahn from January 1, 1994 to 2000, until it moved to the Bahntower in Berlin. Since then, the office building has been used as the head office by the Passenger Transport Management and the subsidiaries DB Fernverkehr, DB Regio and DB Vertrieb.

Status July 2021: The former head office of Deutsche Bahn was sold to a pension fund.
