There has been movement in plans for a new tall building project on construction field 43 in the Europaviertel: Paulus Immobiliengruppe and its JV partner, Patron Capital Partners have commissioned the office, Eike Becker_Architekten to build a tower at Europaallee 92. These architects have previously prevailed in architectural competitions, along with the Sauerbruch Hutton, each winning second prize (a first prize was not awarded.)
Paulus Immobiliengruppe and Patron Capital Partners acquired the commercial property in mid-2017 from Aurelis Real Estate GmbH & Co. KG hosted the competition with a total of six participating architectural firms. Primarily, the deciding factors for the jury – chaired by Prof. Zvonko Turkali, along with Mike Josef, Head of Planning and Housing of the City of Frankfurt – were the cost-effectiveness and possible animated function of the design.
Eike Becker_Architekten’s plans envisaged a striking office tower design: a height of 60 meters in an unusual H-shape, with staggered elements and an adjoining seven-storey hotel building. Above all, the creation of retail and restaurant areas on the ground floor towards Europapark and along Europaallee were positively received by the jury. The tower could host up to 3,000 working office spaces. The adjoining hotel intended to have about 320-350 rooms, accessed via a representative lobby on the first floor. Furthermore, two basement floors, which extend over both halves of the plot, are intended to accommodate approximately 400 underground parking spaces and necessary ancillary facilities.
Construction is scheduled for the second half of 2018. The high-rise project is due for completion at the end of 2020 at the latest. The overall development of the area should also be largely completed by this time. A DGNB certificate in gold is set to be achieved.
